NSFAS is open to South African citizens and permanent residents who plan to study at either a public university or TVET college. To qualify for NSFAS funding, your combined household income needs to be below R350,000 per year. Students living with a disability may qualify with a household income of up to R600,000 per year.
If a student has a SASSA grant, they automatically qualify without needing to go through an income check.
