Chile-China relations have maintained remarkable continuity over the past decade, with growing trade and investment underpinning a stable partnership across successive Chilean governments, experts say.
The assessment came as Chilean Foreign Minister Francisco Perez Mackenna visited China last week. He said Chile's new government stands ready to intensify high-level exchanges with China, strengthen people-to-people bonds, enhance industrial chain connectivity, and expand cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, AI and talent training.
The visit coincides with the 10th anniversary of the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership, as they seek to expand cooperation in AI, the digital economy, scientific research, human capital and supply chains.
"I would read the past 10 years as a story of continuity rather than transformation, and the continuity is itself the most significant result," said Francisco Urdinez, an associate professor at the institute of political science of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile.
