The 80-megawatt data center is owned by an asset management firm and operated by LG CNS, while Naver Cloud leases part of the space.The cooling infrastructure will support Naver Cloud’s operation of Nvidia’s next-generation Vera Rubin artificial intelligence computing platform, owned by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Science and ICT.Direct-to-chip cooling circulates coolant through cold plates attached directly to GPU chips, removing heat more efficiently than conventional air cooling.Air cooling typically reaches its limit at around 20 to 30 kilowatts per rack, while racks packed with high-performance GPUs can consume more than 200 kW. Rising power density is therefore driving demand for liquid cooling in AI data centers.The Samsong project marks LG CNS’ first liquid cooling deployment and is expected to become one of the largest of its kind in Korea, according to industry sources.LG CNS plans to use the project as a reference for expanding the business. It will combine its data center design, build and operation capabilities with expertise in GPU servers, power systems and AI infrastructure.The global data center liquid cooling market is projected to grow from $4.07 billion in 2026 to $27.65 billion in 2033, according to MarketsandMarkets.Naver Cloud plans to use the infrastructure to provide high-performance AI services to Korean public institutions and businesses. The companies aim to complete installation and testing by next year.“We will continue building core infrastructure for Korea’s AI ecosystem with Naver Cloud,” said Cho Heon-hyeock, vice president of LG CNS’ data center business unit.
