It's been a summer to remember for the UK.
This is the first year since records began that temperatures above 35°C have been reached in three separate months and the sheer consistency of the sunshine will likely make this the hottest British summer ever, according to the Met Office.
The unusually warm weather has created problems in the UK, but it has also led an unprecedented boom in solar power generation, particularly for domestic set-ups.
The performance of the UK's solar fleet has been so good, in fact, that Octopus Energy, the UK's premier energy provider, has paid around £100m (US$135m) to the owners of solar panels across the country in exchange for their clean energy.
That figure, covering the 12 months to 31 July 2026, works out at an average of roughly US$329 per household.
