Unidentified men broke open an ATM of a private bank and stole ₹9 lakh at Puthupper near Somangalam in the early hours of Monday.The ATM is located in a commercial complex on the Somangalam – Padappai road. According to the police, the gang entered the ATM centre around 4 a.m. and used a crowbar and gas-cutting equipment to break open the machine and fled with the cash.The police said the suspects had disconnected the alarm system and surveillance camera wires before carrying out the robbery.All the shops in the commercial complex were closed when the robbery took place.
