A person has died after a stabbing at a council building near Wembley Stadium in London.Emergency services rushed to Brent Civic Centre in Wembley, north-west London, following a report of a stabbing at 2.25pm.London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed air ambulance crews attended the scene.Medics found the victim, believed to be a teenage boy or man in his early 20s, with stab wounds. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, one person was confirmed to have died. The centre, which was reportedly evacuated amid the incident, is home to Brent Council. A witness said they saw someone lying on the floor of the library in the building, and spatters of blood. Emergency services rushed to Brent Civic Centre in Wembley, north-west London, following a report of a stabbing at 2.25pmPolice said that no one had been arrested yet and that they were making 'urgent enquiries' to find those responsible for the stabbing. The Met added that a section 60 order had been authorised for the surrounding region, allowing officers to stop and search people with 'enhanced powers'. This means anyone in the specific area can be searched without the usual requirement of reasonable suspicion. Superintendent Chris Clarke said: 'This is an awful incident, in which someone has tragically lost their life. We are working to urgently identify the victim and inform his next-of-kin as soon as possible.'An investigation is underway to establish exactly what has taken place and trace those responsible. We recognise the concern this incident will cause within the local community and are committed to keeping residents informed as our enquiries progress.'In light of the incident, we have authorised additional stop and search powers to help prevent further violence, support our investigation, and keep people safe.'There will be an increased police presence in and around the area in the coming hours while our officers continue their investigation.'It is not believed that the incident is terror-related or that there is a wider threat to the community. An LAS spokesperson said: 'We were called at 2:25pm to reports of a stabbing at Brent Civic Centre, Wembley, HA9.'We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer.'We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance.'Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a patient was pronounced dead at the scene'.A message on Brent Council's website read: 'The Brent Civic Centre and Wembley Library are currently closed due to an ongoing incident. 'Please avoid visiting the building at this time. We’ll share updates as soon as we can.'Brent Council have been contacted for comment.
