Trump Again Claims That All Mines Have Been Removed From Strait Of HormuzPresident Donald Trump said the U.S. Navy has removed “all” mines from the Strait of Hormuz as tensions between Tehran and Washington continue to escalate.“I have just been informed by the United States Navy that all mines have been removed and/or detonated from within the International Waters of the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump wrote Tuesday morning on Truth Social. “Iran has been notified that any ship or boat placing new mines will be immediately and systematically destroyed. Through Space Force, we are watching every square inch of the Strait, as we are, also, with Pickaxe Mountain and the already destroyed three other Nuclear sites. There is a Zero Tolerance policy on mine placement in full force and effect.”One week ago, he said the same thing. Latest Live UpdatesICE Arrests Hit Record High In July, New Figures ShowU.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested nearly 50,000 people during July, the highest single monthly arrest total during the second Trump administration, according to new figures. The spike in immigration arrests shows that the administration has continued to advance its mass deportations agenda despite a shift in approach earlier this year from high-profile operations in large American cities that sparked a public outcry to arrests that have garnered less attention but have nonetheless been disruptive.Read more, via AP:Secret Service Aware Of Iranian Video Appearing To Threaten Barron TrumpThe Secret Service said Tuesday that it is aware of a propaganda video released by Iranian media that appears to threaten Barron Trump and reference a $10 million bounty on President Donald Trump’s youngest son.“The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” agency spokesperson Nate Herring told HuffPost in a statement. “Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence.”The video, released over the weekend by Iranian state TV and media linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, opens with the title, “Where to kill Barron Trump?” It shows graphics purporting to reveal Barron Trump’s movements, relationships and activities – as well as the locations of his security. The video claims the 20-year-old is “fully monitored,” and suggests a $10 million bounty has been placed on him. While concerns about Iranian plots against U.S. officials have been around for decades, public threats have escalated against Donald Trump and his family ever since the president ordered the airstrike killing Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in 2020. Lindsay Clancy Trial Draws Closer To The End As Final Witnesses TestifyThe final witnesses in the Lindsay Clancy trial will take the stand Tuesday after weeks of heartbreaking testimony. On Monday, the defense motioned for a mistrial after Clancy’s Catholic faith was brought up several times. The first came after the prosecution asked Clancy’s former mother-in-law if murder is a mortal sin, and the second happened when forensic psychologist Kirk Heilbrun testified that Clancy wasn’t hallucinating when she killed her children; instead, he argued she committed “altruistic filicide,” believing that after she killed herself, she and her kids would go to heaven together, according to ABC News.Defense attorney Kevin Reddington said the testimony was “intentional misconduct on the part of the prosecution.” The judge denied the mistrial and told the jury to ignore the testimony. Clancy is on trial after she killed her three children and then tried to kill herself in 2023. Prosecutors argue that she willfully murdered her kids and is criminally responsible, while her defense says she was experiencing postpartum psychosis when she strangled her kids. Heilbrun will be cross-examined Tuesday by the defense. Trump Nutrition Advisor Pushes ‘Hot Dogs’ As Healthy 'Fresh From The Ground’ FoodNational nutrition advisor Dr. Ben Carson listed “hot dogs” as an example of some of the “food fresh from the ground” that children should be encouraged to eat to stay healthy.“What if we introduced them to food fresh from the ground?” he said at a Monday event promoting “healthy, American-grown food” in school cafeterias.“It’s a different food than you get in the store, quite frankly. Fresh, sweet corn, hot dogs,” he said, prompting laughter.“But what a difference it makes when they can taste these things,” he went on, without addressing his inclusion of the ultraprocessed meat, even though eating small amounts of hot dogs on a regular basis has been linked to an increased risk of colorectal cancer. “They won’t have a craving for the unhealthy foods that are so prevalent in our society.”“I went to a school, and we were giving the children whole milk.”“They said, ‘I didn’t know milk could taste this good.’”Dr. Ben Carson says kids WANT healthy Real Food.We just have to expose them to it.“What if we introduced them to food fresh from the ground?”“They… pic.twitter.com/NWJS0RMLSm— MAHA Action (@MAHA_Action) August 24, 2026Canada Announces $20 Billion In Retaliatory Tariffs On U.S. GoodsCanada on Tuesday announced retaliatory tariffs on C$27.6 billion ($19.94 billion) worth of United States goods, matching dollar-for-dollar new duties imposed by Washington, and unveiled financial support for Canadian businesses and workers caught in the escalating trade war.The counter-tariffs take effect on U.S. goods from September 8 and will impose duties of 15%, 25% and 50% across 700 products imported from south of the border, a government statement said.Read more, via Reuters:Pennsylvania Sees First Measles Deaths In 35 YearsTwo people in Pennsylvania have died from measles, the state’s health department confirmed Tuesday. The deaths are the first related to measles in Pennsylvania in 35 years. While the Pennsylvania Department of Health declined to share information that could inadvertently identify the individuals or their families, it did note that both individuals were unvaccinated. So far in 2026, the state has confirmed 393 cases of measles across 28 of its 67 counties.“My deepest sympathies are with the loved ones who are facing this unimaginable loss,” Pa. Secretary of Health Dr. Debra Bogen said in a statement. “Because measles was largely eliminated in the Commonwealth for more than three decades, people are not familiar with this disease and don’t fully understand the potential severity of the illness.”Bogen closed by reiterating the safety and efficacy of the MMR vaccine, which provides 97% lifetime protection against measles. The development in Pennsylvania coincides with a measles outbreak across the border in Maryland, which confirmed 14 new cases Monday.Earlier this month, President Donald Trump signed an executive order splitting the MMR vaccine, which protects against measles, mumps and rubella, into three separate shots that would be administered in three, separate, visits. There’s no evidence supporting the order, nor do such separate vaccines exist in the U.S.Study Finds 1 In 4 NFL Players May Get Degenerative Brain Disease CTEA newly published study on former NFL players’ brains has found that nearly a quarter, at minimum, who died over a recent six-year period had a progressive degenerative brain disease that’s caused by repeated blows to the head and traumatic brain injuries. The study on chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) published on Tuesday in the peer-reviewed medical journal BMJ concluded that NFL players have a “higher prevalence of CTE at death than has been previously shown in multiple community based studies.”“Furthermore, these data indicate that CTE severity at death is significantly associated with dementia in NFL player brain donors, and that dementia is common in these donors,” the study states. This conclusion follows researchers examining 235 brains of 878 former players who died from 2016 to 2021. Of those brains, made available through donation, 215 or 91% were diagnosed with CTE, which can only be definitively diagnosed after death. This equated to a minimum prevalence of 24.5% of CTE at death for all decedents.Randy Grimes, 66, who played center for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1983 to 1992 and runs a nonprofit that counsels retired athletes, said more attention is needed.“It’s not something that’s brought up, it’s not something that players want to talk about,” he told The New York Times. “We probably could move forward faster in our research if we did talk more about it. But players don’t want to do it. They don’t want to think they have it, they don’t want to think they’re seeing it. Deep down, we all know that probably the majority of us are going to have some form of C.T.E.”CIA Director Travels To Russia On Military Plane For Meetings: CBSCIA Director John Ratcliffe traveled to Russia aboard a C-17 aircraft on Tuesday for meetings in Moscow, according to CBS News.Earlier, a U.S. military transport plane was seen landing at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport. They have driven many wonderful U.S. companies out of business.”Neither of those claims are true, but Trump is grasping for anything after Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney made clear he wouldn’t abide by Trump’s harmful trade war demands.Trump has already posted several times Tuesday morning about Canada.“For 10 years they wouldn’t certify Gulfstream Jets, until I got involved,” Trump’s post continued. “They wanted 100% of the market for Gulfstream’s Canadian competitor. I deal with many countries, and Canada is easily the most difficult and unreasonable. They feel entitled, but they are not a State, and will be entitled no longer!”Just twenty minutes after that post, Trump again stomped his feet about Canada.“Over the last 10 years, the United States lost, on average, 60 Billion Dollars a year with Canada,” Trump claimed. “No more!”As part of his revenge against Canada, Trump threatened Tuesday to rename Lake Ontario to “Lake America.” The art of the deal!Federal Judge Rejects Ghislaine Maxwell's Bid For Prison ReleaseClaims by Jeffrey Epstein’s former girlfriend and longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell that her sex trafficking conviction was a “complete miscarriage of justice” were rejected Tuesday by a federal judge who said her assertions were based on “speculation, distortions, and/or outright falsehoods.”Judge Paul A. Engelmayer said in a written ruling that Maxwell’s habeas petition seeking to set aside her conviction and free her from a 20-year prison sentence on the grounds that there was “substantial new evidence” was “demonstrably meritless.”Read more from The Associated Press:See All Updates
