The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Coimbatore Branch Office, in association with the Southern Region Water Treatment Equipment’s Manufacturers and Traders (SRWTEMT) Association, organised an awareness meet for the MSME sector on RO water treatment and dispensing systems here on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.The programme was aimed at creating awareness among MSMEs and manufacturers about Indian Standards, mandatory Quality Control Orders (QCOs) and BIS licensing procedures for RO water treatment and dispensing systems. It also highlighted the role of standardisation in ensuring product quality, safety and consumer confidence.K. Ramesh, Scientist-E, Director and Head, BIS, Coimbatore, delivered the inaugural address and outlined the objectives of the programme. B. Thivya Prabhaa, Engineer (Product Certification), BIS, Coimbatore, spoke on BIS activities. S. Rino John, Scientist-E and Director, BIS, Coimbatore, conducted a technical session on Indian Standards, QCOs and BIS licensing procedures. The session was followed by an open house discussion, providing participants an opportunity to interact with BIS officials and industry representatives.Mohammed Iskaq of RR Industries, Madurai, and Ravi Chandran of Conway Water Purifier, executive committee members of the SRW Association, were the guests of honour. Mahindran, executive coordinator of the association, delivered a special address.More than 100 MSME manufacturers, traders and other stakeholders in the RO water treatment and dispensing systems sector participated in the meet.
