The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested nearly 50,000 people in July, recording the agency’s highest monthly arrest total since President Donald Trump returned to office, according to newly released government data.
ICE made 49,571 arrests during the month, representing a 15 per cent increase from the 43,021 arrests recorded in June and a 70 per cent rise from the 29,241 arrests made in February.
The figures, provided by ICE to the University of California, Berkeley’s Deportation Data Project and analysed by The Associated Press, highlight the continued expansion of the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement campaign.
