The warning followed a statement issued by NAFDAC on Monday, August 24, reaffirming that full enforcement of the ban, which took effect on January 1, 2026, was underway following the expiration of the industry’s transition period.
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned manufacturers of alcoholic beverages packaged in sachets and PET/plastic bottles below 200ml that they risk permanent closure and asset confiscation if they violate the Federal Government’s ban.
NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, issued the warning as the agency intensified enforcement of the prohibition nationwide.
The warning followed a statement issued by NAFDAC on Monday, August 24, reaffirming that full enforcement of the ban, which took effect on January 1, 2026, was underway following the expiration of the industry’s transition period.
Speaking in a video shared on NAFDAC’s official X account on Tuesday, Adeyeye said manufacturers found producing or distributing the prohibited products would face severe sanctions.
