Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has withdrawn her attribution of a disputed voice note to Ronald Lamola, while standing by her broader concerns over money in ANC leadership contests.
ANC veteran Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has withdrawn her attribution of a controversial voice note to International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola, after the ANC NEC member told her that the voice was not his.
The withdrawal comes weeks after Dlamini-Zuma made explosive claims about the influence of money in ANC leadership contests during an appearance on the African Renaissance Podcast hosted by formersou EFF MP Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Dlamini-Zuma said she had attributed the voice note to Lamola during the podcast but had since been advised by the minister that it was not his voice.
“During my participation in the African Renaissance Podcast, I attributed a voice note to comrade Ronald Lamola. Comrade Lamola has since advised me that the voice was not his. I withdraw the attribution on the basis of his clarification,” she said.
