Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow rejects a proposal for a third party to administer Donbas, which Russian forces have unsuccessfully sought to seize, claiming that the region is “part of Russia.”
According to Ukrinform, The Moscow Times reported this.
Peskov was commenting on a proposal being considered as part of a joint plan involving Ukraine, the United States and the European Union.
“Donbas is territory of the Russian Federation, a constituent entity of the Russian Federation… And it is unlikely that any third party could be involved in administering regions of the Russian Federation,” Peskov said.
He added that Russia allegedly remains open to a diplomatic settlement but continues its military operations because it currently sees no acceptable way to end the war.
