In Hassan, 79,778 to get notices as part of SIR

In Hassan district, the number of electors has come down by 1,67,285 in the draft voters’ list and another 79,778 are set to receive notices as part of the Special Intensive Revision.The Hassan district administration published the draft voters’ list on Monday (August 24). Earlier, there were 15,42,802 voters in the district. The revised number stood at 13,75,517. Among those who made it to the list, 6,80,925 are men and 6,94,559 are women. As many as 1,67,285 names that fall under the Absent, Shifted, Duplicate, Dead and Others (ASDDO) categories have been removed from the draft list.Deputy Commissioner K.S. Lathakumari, addressing a press conference in Hassan on Monday (August 24), said that 79,778 people would get notices from the district administration. They include 23,641 people whose names could not be mapped, while discrepancies were found with regard to 56,137 names. “Those who get notices have to appear before the electoral registration officer concerned on the specific day mentioned in the notice and furnish relevant documents to claim entry into the final list,” the Deputy Commissioner said.The officer said the voters could furnish any of the 12 documents suggested by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to claim entry into the final list. She also said there was time till September 23 to file objections to the draft.Further, the officer said fresh applications to the voters’ list would be accepted. Those who attain 18 years of age as of October 1, 2026, could file applications by filling up the prescribed Form 6. Published - August 25, 2026 07:06 pm IST
