Tiruppur-based Ramraj Cotton has entered the Asia Book of Records for creating Mundukalam, a display of pookkalam using dhotis.The company created a Mundukalam that was 30 feet long in diametre using as many as 3,000 dhotisat Forum Mall, Kochi, on August 9.“It is a celebration of Ramraj Cotton’s deep connection with Indian textile traditions and its continued effort to present them in fresh, engaging and contemporary ways. By transforming thousands of dhotis into an enormous Mundukalam, the brand has given one of Kerala’s most cherished festive traditions a distinctive new expression,” said a press release from the company.Ramraj manufactures dhotis, shirts, kurtas, towels, wedding collections, pure silk collections, sarees, kurtis, formal wears, inners, and accessories for men, women and children.The Asia Book of Records award was presented by Sanjay Bhola, Adjudicator, Asia Book of Records to K.R. Nagarajan, founder and chairman of Ramraj Cotton.Asia Book of Records is a platform with a data base of 40,000 entries of holders of all major national records.
