Ahead of Eid Milad, Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti has issued orders prohibiting bike rallies, bursting crackers or colour papers and the use of DJ systems across the district from August 25 to 28.Mr. Kavalikatti issued the order to maintain law and order in the district, during the Eid Milad celebrations on August 26. Exercising his powers under the Karnataka Police Act, 1963, the Deputy Commissioner banned bike rallies. Considering the recommendation of the Superintendent of Police, he banned colour paper blasting and bursting of crackers. The order stated that such activities could damage the places of worship and hurt the sentiments of people.In another order, he banned the use of DJ systems. The officer maintained that use these systems could cause inconvenience to the public, students, elderly people and patients in the hospitals, besides posing a threat to law and order.
