The Kottiyam police in Kollam, Keralam, have arrested a man following a complaint filed by his wife, who alleged that he secretly recorded their private moments and uploaded them on adult websites. The accused, who had gone into hiding after the case was registered, was apprehended by the police, presented before the court, and remanded to judicial custody.According to the complaint, the couple, who had been residing in the UK for several years after a decade-long relationship, returned to their hometown recently. The woman stated that her husband engaged in severe domestic abuse when she confronted him after discovering that private recordings made during their time abroad were shared online without her consent.Testimony by 4-year-old daughterThe scope of the investigation broadened after the couple’s four-year-old daughter provided statements during a counseling session regarding inappropriate behaviour by her father. Based on the child’s testimony, law enforcement authorities incorporated provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act into the existing charges.The victim further disclosed that despite attempting marital counseling upon returning home to resolve the ongoing issues, the abusive behaviour persisted. She alleged that her husband coerced her into improper situations against her will and subjected her to physical violence when she refused, eventually driving her to seek refuge at a friend’s house before approaching the authorities.
