In the Zaporizhzhia region, a crew from JSC “Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo” was attacked by a Russian drone while performing emergency repair work.
The Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo press service reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
“The workers were already up in an aerial work platform, so they were physically unable to evacuate quickly. Fortunately, the military personnel providing cover for the power workers responded promptly—the defenders neutralized the invaders’ drone,” said Andrii Stasevskyi, head of Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo.
After the attack, the power workers continued their work and restored power to 5,500 customers in the Orikhiv district, while their colleagues from the Zaporizhzhia Regional Electric Network restored power to most residents of Kushuhum and Balabine—3,000 families. Work is ongoing.
According to the company’s head, this is already the fifth time since the beginning of summer that Defense Forces escort teams have saved the lives of Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo employees.
