Dubai: Kuwait Airways will launch direct flights to Phuket, Thailand, from October 27, adding the popular Southeast Asian holiday destination to its international network.The national carrier will operate two flights a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with bookings for the new route opening on Tuesday, Acting Chief Executive Officer Abdulwahab Al Shatti said as quoted by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).Al Shatti said the new service forms part of Kuwait Airways’ strategy to expand its network and offer passengers more direct travel options, particularly to destinations experiencing growing demand.Phuket, Thailand’s largest island, is one of Southeast Asia’s leading tourism destinations and is known for its beaches, resorts and natural attractions.The direct service is expected to strengthen tourism and travel links between Kuwait and Thailand while offering passengers greater convenience by eliminating the need for connecting flights.Al Shatti said Kuwait Airways would continue to expand its network and introduce new destinations as it seeks to strengthen its presence in regional and international aviation markets.The airline is also continuing to develop its services to meet changing passenger demand and provide a broader range of travel options, he added.With over 30 years of journalistic experience spanning from Jordan to the UAE, Khitam has spent the past 22 years reporting on national and regional news from Dubai, with a strong focus on the UAE, GCC and broader Arab affairs.
