August 25, 2026 — 11:22amPolice are investigating the mysterious death of a man whose body was discovered on the street by a passerby in Melbourne’s Bayside area on Tuesday.The 68-year-old deceased man was found on a nature strip in Cochrane Street, Brighton, at about 7.10am.Police officers have have closed off a Brighton Street where a man’s body was found.Jason SouthPolice blocked off roads at the corner of Cochrane and Rooding streets, and erected several canvas tents while they investigated. The SES was also at the scene. The roads were reopened shortly after 11.30am.Police said the man, who was a Brighton local, was found fully clothed and had no visible injuries or blood on his body. His death is not being treated as suspicious.A Brighton resident, who asked not to be named, said it wasn’t the type of area where a dead body would be found.The circumstances surrounding the man’s death are currently unknown.Be the first to know when major news happens.
