Mumbai: Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said Monday it has signed an ultra-mega contract to implement a gas compression project for a major client in the Gulf, expanding its presence in large-scale hydrocarbon infrastructure.L&T classifies orders above ₹15,000 crore as ultra-mega. The engineering and construction conglomerate, however, didn't disclose the value of the contract.The contract has been awarded to L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore (LTEH Onshore), a subsidiary of L&T. The company will undertake engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of gas compression plants for new onshore installations designed to process sour gas.ALSO READ | From dairy machines to AI factory: L&T is future-proofing its empireThe project includes gas inlet facilities, gas compression systems, condensate and produced-water handling systems, propane refrigeration systems and associated utilities. The facilities will be developed as per the client's standards, codes and project requirements.L&T's power transmission and distribution business will also execute two 230-kV extra-high-voltage substations to meet the power requirements of the gas compression plants."The contract marks the start of a strategically important project that will add significant gas compression capacity and utility infrastructure," said E S Sathyanarayanan, senior vice president and head of L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore.He said the project would draw on L&T's experience in executing large and complex hydrocarbon facilities and strengthen its capability to deliver integrated solutions for challenging sour-gas applications.LTEH Onshore provides turnkey solutions across the upstream, midstream and downstream hydrocarbon sectors. Its portfolio includes refinery expansions, petrochemical complexes, gas processing plants, fertiliser plants, LNG terminals and cross-country pipelines.Shares of L&T closed nearly unchanged at ₹4,085.3 apiece on the BSE.
