Five persons have been arrested in connection with a case of waylaying and threatening two men with a knife, assaulting them and snatching a mobile phone in T.P. Chatram.The police said Senthil, 43, a resident of 19th Cross Street, T.P. Chatram, works as a painter and watchman. On Saturday evening, Senthil was driving a two-wheeler with his friend on 1st Cross Street, T.P. Chatram, when five men, including Ajith, all from the locality, came on two two-wheelers and intercepted them.The accused allegedly threatened the duo with a knife and demanded money. They assaulted both men, snatched Senthil’s mobile phone, and the key to his two-wheeler, and threatened to kill them before fleeing the spot.Based on Senthil’s complaint, T.P. Chatram Police registered a case and began an investigation. Police arrested three accused — Ajith, 27, Deepak, 27, and Gunasekar, 27, from T.P. Chatram.The police recovered the complainant’s mobile phone and two-wheeler key from them. Further investigation by the Crime Wing team led to the arrest of two absconding accused, Anush, 26, and Rithik, 23. Anush, a history-sheeter at T.P.
