Palestinian artist Sliman Mansour, 79, is in critical condition, with his family requesting prayers and support during this difficult time.

Mansour is a leading figure in Palestinian art, with over five decades of work shaping a visual language for Palestinian identity.

He co-founded the New Visions collective during the First Intifada, boycotting Israeli art supplies in favour of locally sourced materials such as mud and henna.

Mansour is best known for a painting depicting an elderly Palestinian porter carrying Jerusalem on his back, one of the most recognised images in Palestinian art.
