Ghana’s Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announced that it is assessing allegations of extortion and related conduct made against the Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, following petitions submitted to the anti-corruption agency.
The allegations were publicly raised by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, against Afenyo-Markin.
In a public notice dated August 24, 2026, which SaharaReporters obtained, the OSP said it had taken note of the allegations and received multiple petitions concerning the matter.
“The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has taken note of public allegations of extortion and related conduct made by the Chief Executive of Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, against the Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin,” the notice stated.
