The United Kingdom will share information on British components of Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missiles and call on its defense industry to support the development of the Freyja air and missile defense system.
British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said this at the opening of the plenary session of the “Coalition of the Willing,” according to Ukrinform.
“The United Kingdom was the first to provide Ukraine with long-range weapons back in 2023. Volodymyr [Zelenskyy] has now asked us to share our Storm Shadow technology so that Ukraine can develop these capabilities itself. I am pleased to confirm today that I have approved this request,” Burnham said.
The prime minister noted that British and French defense industries would work together with Ukraine to develop its capabilities. Burnham also said he would call on British industry to support the Freyja project, which is intended to provide a less costly alternative to U.S. Patriot systems for intercepting ballistic missiles.
