Taiwan’s top industrial trade group, the Chinese National Federation of Industries (CNFI, 全國工業總會), urged the government yesterday to diversify the nation’s energy mix, step up support for traditional industries and ease restrictions on migrant workers, as a widening labor shortage threatens to hinder growth beyond the technology sector.The calls came as Taipei-based CNFI released its annual position paper, pointing to growing strains beneath Taiwan’s booming economy. While demand for artificial intelligence (AI) products has propelled growth to its fastest pace in decades, traditional industries continue to grapple with labor shortages, rising costs and structural challenges, the group said.
