OTTAWA — U.S. President Donald Trump is threatening Canada’s auto sector with even higher tariffs after the collapse of trade talks, declaring that Canada is among the “worst” countries in the world to deal with.
In a statement posted Monday on social media, Trump repeated recent statements that Canada will no longer be treated like a “state” of the United States and will instead face steeper duties when selling goods into the country.
