The Coimbatore Corporation has intensified its anti-rabies vaccination (ARV) drive for stray dogs, with around 700 dogs vaccinated in the city on Saturday, August 22, 2026, as part of its efforts to achieve a rabies-free status by 2030.The special vaccination camp was held in Wards 36, 37 and 38 in the West Zone and Wards 8 and 54 in the East Zone. The Corporation has estimated that there are 1,11,074 stray dogs within its limits, and around 8,000 have been vaccinated so far this month.The Corporation is conducting special vaccination camps in different parts of the city to cover more stray dogs. Alongside the vaccination drive, it is implementing Animal Birth Control (ABC) measures and conducting public awareness programmes under an integrated ‘One Health’ approach.
