The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally disowned Abayomi Hunye’s claim to the party’s ticket for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election. The ruling party described him as an impostor and confirmed his status as a suspended member.

APC National Secretary Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Bashiru stated on Monday that Hunye’s purported declaration as the governorship candidate was completely false, unauthorised, and a mischievous attempt to mislead the public.

Internal Disciplinary Action and Suspension

Senator Bashiru explained that Hunye was suspended on April 7, 2026, following a petition from the APC Tube Ward executive committee in the Ipokia Local Government Area. The Ogun State Working Committee subsequently ratified the disciplinary action.
