A governorship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Abayomi Hunye, speaks with OLUFEMI ADEDIRAN on his decision to challenge the outcome of the party’s primary election based on his conviction for fairness, internal democracy, and the Yewa agenda

you have been one of the most consistent politicians in the State since 1999. Do you believe you are being marginalised in the political scheme of things in the state?

I would not describe it as marginalisation in the convention al sense, but it is obvious that certain interests have consistently enjoyed more opportunities than others. Since 1999, I have remained steadfast in progressive politics, contributing my quota to party building and governance without wavering. My focus has never been on personal gain but on service to Ogun State and the advancement of our people.

However, it is difficult to ignore the fact that Yewa, despite its loyalty and contributions to the growth of the state, has never produced a governor. What we are advocating is fairness, inclusion, and a sense of belonging. Every section of Ogun State deserves an opportunity to contribute at the highest level of leadership.

What is your assessment of the just concluded APC primary elections across the state?
