A juvenile was apprehended with 48 kg ganja near the City Convention Centre on Nampally Station Road on Saturday (August 22), the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force said.The Khairatabad Zone Task Force, along with Abids Road police, apprehended him while he was allegedly transporting the banned substance from Visakhapatnam to New Delhi. Police said he had been lured into transporting the contraband for quick money.The teams seized 24 sealed packets of dried marijuana, wrapped in brown tape and concealed in two air-carry bags and two large briefcases. A Vivo T4R 5G mobile phone was also seized. The seized contraband and other property were valued at ₹24.5 lakh, police said.According to the police, the juvenile was an intermediate dropout and was facing financial difficulties. He allegedly came into contact with Ankit Kumar alias Shiva, a childhood acquaintance from his village, who allegedly induced him to transport marijuana for quick money.Ankit later introduced him to Bandiya of New Delhi, who was reportedly involved in procuring and selling marijuana. On Bandiya’s instructions, the juvenile and Ankit travelled to Visakhapatnam, where they came into contact with Noushad alias Sunil and Rajesh, who allegedly supplied the contraband.The two then began their journey to New Delhi with the marijuana concealed in the luggage. They reached Secunderabad Railway Station on August 22 and took an auto to Nampally Railway Station.During the journey, Ankit got down from the auto saying he would check train timings for their onward journey to Delhi. He later allegedly instructed the juvenile to get down near the City Convention Centre and wait for him, saying he would return shortly.The juvenile was waiting at the location with the luggage when the Task Force and Abids Road police, acting on credible information, apprehended him.Police said Ankit, Bandiya, Noushad and Rajesh were absconding and efforts were on to nab them.The case was registered under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act relating to possession and trafficking of commercial quantities, financing illicit trafficking and criminal conspiracy.
