MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte herself approved the use of four traveling bags for transporting P125 million in confidential funds withdrawn from Land Bank Shaw Boulevard branch on Dec. 20, 2022.
That was part of the testimony of Gina Acosta, former special disbursing officer of the Office of the Vice President (OVP), on Monday, the 17th day of the impeachment trial, which resumed it was canceled for two days due to bad weather
Acosta explained that she proposed that four bags should be used for the transfer of the funds to Duterte as well as then-OVP Assistant Secretary Lemuel Ortonio, and Col. Raymund Dante Lachica, the vice president’s security officer then.
When Ligutan asked how Duterte responded to the proposal, Acosta replied: “Nagsabi lang po siya na okay.”
