I’ve always felt that knowing what makes a franchise special can make you appreciate an adaptation more. “Masters of the Universe” has decades of history, from the action figures launched in 1982 to its animated series and Dolph Lundgren’s 1987 live-action film. Now, Amazon and Mattel Films have brought the franchise back with this 2026 reboot. As someone completely unfamiliar with this world, I initially questioned whether it was necessary, but there’s still plenty to enjoy here.When Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) was ten, he was sent from Eternia to Earth and separated from the magical Sword of Power. Fifteen years later, he finally finds the sword, which transports him back to his home planet. There, Adam discovers that Eternia has been taken over by the ruthless Skeletor (Jared Leto), who has captured his parents and seized control of the kingdom.
