Third Wave Coffee, homegrown coffee and food QSR brand, has raised ₹408 crore ($43 million) in a funding round led by existing investor WestBridge Capital, comprising a mix of primary and secondary capital. The round also witnessed participation from Creagis and other angel investors, it addedThis comes at a time when the chain is looking to add 100 new cafés every year. The company said the new funding will be deployed towards geographic growth in existing markets, building greater density in high-potential cities and strengthening the brand’s ability to serve a wider range of consumer occasions. It will also ramp up its presence in dessert segment through Third Rush Desserts.Rajat Luthra, CEO, Third Wave Coffee said, ”We currently operate more than 240 cafés across India and are aiming to reach 320 cafes by fiscal end. By next month, we will be entering 8 new geographies. This fundraise will help us accelerate our expansion across the country while strengthening new categories, with desserts being an important part of the journey. Our vision to add 100 new cafes every year; reflects the significant opportunity we see ahead.”Over the past year, the chain has focused on accelerating its national footprint, entering Ahmedabad, Mangalore and Agra while strengthening its presence across Delhi, NCR, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and Pune.
