The Volkswagen Tukan Is A New Small Truck The US Can't Have

The new Tukan replaces the long-running Saveiro.

It'll be made in Brazil and won't be sold in the U.S.

Single- and double-cab versions are planned.

With reporting by Fábio Trindade — Volkswagen has finally revealed the all-new Tukan without camouflage in Brazil. Developed to replace the long-running Saveiro, the new pickup is making its first public appearance at the Barretos Rodeo Festival in São Paulo state, shown in both single-cab and double-cab body styles. The sales launch is scheduled for early 2027.

Larger and more modern than the Saveiro, the Tukan will be built in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, and will primarily target the Fiat Strada. VW has not yet released dimensions, payload capacity, or lineup details. Still, the two cab configurations suggest a range spanning work-oriented versions and better-equipped models aimed at family use.
