There is something intriguing about a footprint. It tells a story without uttering a single word.

Long after the traveller has disappeared beyond the horizon, the imprint remains, silent evidence that someone once stood here, made a choice, stumbled perhaps, rose again and continued walking.

Some footprints disappear with the next rainfall, while others become trails. The kind of trails that strangers follow years later without ever meeting the person who first cleared the path.

I found myself thinking about this as I studied the cover of *The Enterprise Jungle*. At its centre is a solitary footprint, not polished or perfect, but rugged, almost wild. It is the kind of mark you imagine finding deep inside a forest where there are no signposts, only instinct and hope. I once found one such footprint, named "The Foot of Jesus", in Ruiri, Meru.
