Wind energy major Suzlon Group is expanding its presence in Andhra Pradesh with new wind power projects totalling 1,325 MW and an estimated investment of ₹10,000 crore in the Rayadurgam Assembly constituency of Anantapur district.The projects, coming up at Govindawada, are expected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for around 4,000 people, according to the company.State Education, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh is scheduled to inaugurate Suzlon’s new S144 blade production lines at Huliker village in Kanekal mandal of Rayadurgam constituency on August 25, 2026.Suzlon targets 5,000 MW additional capacitySuzlon currently has more than 1,700 MW of installed wind power capacity in Andhra Pradesh, making it the State’s largest wind energy partner, according to the company. It has set a target of developing an additional 5,000 MW of renewable energy projects by 2030.Suzlon has had a significant presence in Anantapur district, where it began operations in Andhra Pradesh in 2004. The company operates a rotor blade manufacturing unit in the Ippuru area of Kuderu mandal in Uravakonda constituency. It has implemented wind power projects in association with companies including Tata Power.Anantapur facility accounts for 40% of blade outputThe company’s largest blade manufacturing facility in Anantapur accounts for about 40% of Suzlon’s blade production, with an annual production capacity of 1,260 MW. The company has so far attracted ₹12,000 crore in investment in the district and generated employment for around 2,200 young people.Green skills programme to train 12,000 youthThe Andhra Pradesh government and Suzlon are also jointly implementing a major green skill development programme. World-class wind energy learning centres have been established at Uravakonda and Vijayawada to train 12,000 young professionals, with women accounting for 25% of the trainees, according to a release.Published on August 24, 2026
