Christian Petersen / Getty ImagesAug. 23, 2026 4:38 pm EDT Updated An Arizona State men’s hockey player collapsed during an outdoor exercise Thursday morning and remains hospitalized, according to a statement released by the university on Sunday afternoon.Chris Fiscus, vice president of ASU media relations, declined to name the student-athlete due to privacy laws.“The university offers its support for the student-athlete, their family and all of our student-athletes during this difficult time,” Fiscus’ statement read.The average temperature in the Phoenix area on Thursday was 92.5 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, and an extreme heat warning was in effect all week.
