This new development arrives ahead of Nvidia’s much-anticipated earnings call scheduled for Wednesday, August 26.

Nvidia’s goal is ambitious. The company wants to build one of the world’s most powerful open-weight models, putting it into closer competition with Chinese AI developers such as DeepSeek and Moonshot AI’s Kimi, as well as U.S. leaders including OpenAI and Anthropic.

Poolside will continue operating separately. Its founders and senior leadership are not joining Nvidia.

On Friday, NVDA shares dropped about 1% to close at $214.72.
