Efforts are continuing to extinguish a large-scale forest fire in the village of Kumeiky, Cherkasy region, which broke out on August 18 and spread across a significant area of woodland.
According to Ukrinform, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported this.
“As of August 23, efforts to extinguish a large-scale fire in the village of Kumeiky, Cherkasy district, are ongoing. Due to high temperatures and strong wind gusts, the fire quickly spread across a significant area of the forest,” the statement said.
According to the State Emergency Service, rescuers, local fire brigades, forestry workers, and volunteers are involved in battling the blaze. A total of 198 personnel and 50 vehicles are currently working at the scene.
Emergency workers are using UAVs to survey the fire zone and surrounding areas, assess the scale of the blaze, and coordinate response efforts.
