Shin Bet security service chief David Zini said he decided not to provide Yashar party leader Gadi Eisenkot with a security detail ahead of Israel's 2026 election in October.The head of the agency "bears sole responsibility for the matter," Zini said in a statement, adding that he made the decision following "a series of consultations with professional officials, including Justice Sohlberg" – head of Israel's Central Elections Committee.Speaking with Eisenkot after the decision, Zini gave the politician the number of Shin Bet's operations room, telling him to call "if something happens."Eisenkot, a former IDF chief of staff, is currently leading in several polls ahead of the next election, with his Yashar party emerging as one of the strongest political forces in the opposition.
