Aug. 23 (UPI) -- More than half a million people are without power across Poland and the Baltic states after a deadly storm swept through the area, killing two people on Saturday.
One person died in northern Lithuania and another in central Latvia, where meteorological data shows this storm was the "most devastating to hit the country since 2005," TVP World reported.
As of Sunday, power outages are affecting 254,000 people in Latvia, 256,000 in Lithuania, 18,000 people in Poland and 3,400 in Estonia.
Fire officials in Latvia said two people were injured in a building collapse in Jelgava, Xinhua reported. Rescue services received more than 1,000 calls related to wind damage there.
In Lithuania, where firefighters received more than 1,200 storm-related calls, one woman was injured.
