The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Sunday, Aug. 23, that Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully struck multiple Russian military targets, including radar installations, logistics hubs, and drone facilities. In the Crimean settlement of Chornomorske, the military struck a launch and storage site for Russian maritime uncrewed surface vessels, as well as a ground relay station used to control “Geran” and “Gerbera” attack drones. The General Staff also confirmed strikes on Russian logistics depots in Dzhankoi, Crimea, and the village of Chaiky in Russia’s Belgorod region. Additionally, Russian repair units were targeted in Dzhankoi and the temporarily occupied city of Kadiivka in the Luhansk region. The military noted that the full extent of the damage and the final results of the strikes are still being clarified, adding that operations targeting key Russian military facilities are ongoing. Concurrent strikes on Russian aviation and logistics The overnight operations followed a series of confirmed strikes targeting Russian military and economic assets the previous day. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on Saturday, Aug. 22, that Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian Su-24M aircraft and four pieces of aviation equipment at the Saky airfield in Crimea. In a social media statement, he emphasized that Ukrainian operations are continuing to limit Russia’s military and economic potential.
