FOXBORO --- The first half of the New England Patriots vs. Philadelphia Eagles Week 2 preseason matchup has wrapped up, with the Eagles taking a 14-10 lead. Here's everything you need to know from the first 30 minutes of action. After being backed up due to a holding penalty on James Hudson III, a 28-yard screen to Lan Larison gave the Patriots a boost downfield. However, a pair of one-yard rushes and an incomplete pass forced New England to punt. The Eagles' first drive had a similar fate. Running back Will Shipley had an 18-yard gain on the ground, but the offense quickly stalled and was forced to punt. New England's second offensive drive of the night was another dud. Shipley punched it in for a five-yard score to end the 13-play, 77-yard drive. The Patriots responded with a eight-play 50-yard drive which ended with a 41-yard field goal from Andy Borregales to cut the deficit to four points. DeVito helped lead New England downfield with a 36-yard scramble. — New England Patriots (@Patriots) August 22, 2026On the following drive, cornerback Kindle Vildor came up with a would-be interception, but the play was wiped out by a roughing the passer penalty on rookie edge rusher Gabe Jacas. However, a pass breakup by Vildor, a pressure from Jacas and another breakup by Vildor forced the Eagles to punt.DeVito found Efton Chism III for a 24-yard strike to give New England a spark on its next possession. An additional short completion to Chism put the Patriots near field goal range before DeVito was taken down for a nine-yard sack on third down. After a short, scoreless drive for Philadelphia, New England took its first lead of the night. DeVito hit speedster Kyle Williams down the right sideline for a 69-yard score. Borregales connected on the extra point attempt to put the Patriots up 10-7. The Eagles responded swiftly, however. Philadelphia's offense, led by Tanner McKee, drove downfield in under two minutes. A 14-yard screen to Britain Covey capped off the five-play, 62-yard drive. DeVito and the Patriots got another possession with around a minute remaining in the half, but made nothing of it. The Eagles got a similar opportunity in the last 34 seconds of the half, but had the same fate.
