The police commissioner said the annual observance provided an opportunity to highlight the critical role of young people in promoting development, peace and security in society.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Nnanna Oji Ama, has warned youths against allowing themselves to be used for thuggery, violence and digital crimes, urging them to embrace responsible use of technology and contribute positively to the security of the state.

Ama gave the warning while speaking during activities to commemorate the International Youth Day 2026, where he supported a walk against all forms of thuggery, including digital thuggery.

The police commissioner said the annual observance provided an opportunity to highlight the critical role of young people in promoting development, peace and security in society.

He noted that the 2026 theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” reflected the shared aspirations of young people across different backgrounds, including the desire for dignity, opportunities, safety and a better future.
