M. Thanga Raj, a teacher at Puliyampatti Panchayat Union Primary School in Erode district, and J. Amutha, headmistress of PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya-2, Thirupparankundram, Madurai, have been selected for National Teachers Awards 2026,In view of National Teachers Day on September 5, 48 teachers have been selected by the Ministry of Education’s Department of School Education and Literacy for the award, which is presented by the President.Chief Minister Joseph Vijay has extended his congratulations and appreciation to both of them.Ms. Amudha hails from Thabal Thanthi (P&T) Nagar area in Madurai. She has been in the teaching profession for 22 years. Having worked as a teacher for nine years, she is now the headmistress at the PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya school in Thirupparankundram.Sharing her thoughts about the award, Ms. Amudha said, “Being announced for this award brings me immense joy, and I dedicate this award to my father and mother. Without them, I am nobody. My family has been supportive. Additionally, the school administration, my fellow teachers, and students were instrumental in helping me receive this award.”She added: “It is a matter of great joy that Chief Minister Vijay has extended his congratulations. At present, his work as Chief Minister is exceptional. He stands as a role model and guide for youth.
