S. Siva Sathya, Professor and Dean, Department of Computer Science and School of Engineering & Technology, Pondicherry University, was recently conferred with the National Teachers Award 2025 in recognition of her distinguished service of over 25 years in the field of higher education.
She received the award recently from President Droupadi Murmu during a function in New Delhi.
A University press note said, Ms. Siva Sathya’s contributions span the introduction of innovative courses, curriculum design, student mentorship, and active participation in various academic bodies. As the University’s Nodal Officer for AICTE, and Ombudsperson for students of the University and its affiliated colleges, she also plays a pivotal role as a member of the NEP implementation committee.
Ms. Siva Sathya specialises in bio-inspired computing and spatio-temporal mining, and her current research focuses extensively on Artificial Intelligence in the healthcare domain. Collaborating with JIPMER, she has spearheaded the development of several apps for the cardiology department with her students’ support.
She is also the technical lead from Pondicherry University for the CARDIAC-India consortium, a Ministry of Education project to establish an AI Centre of Excellence (Phase I). Her pioneering vision for technology-driven societal impact is reflected in initiatives such as MITRA, a women’s safety app that previously earned her the Naari Shakti Puraskar from the President of India.
