Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has urged Nigerian youths to channel the passion they demonstrate for European football into active participation in the 2027 general election, describing the poll as “the match for a better Nigeria.”
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, made the call in a message to Nigerian youths as the European football season resumed, drawing parallels between the organisation and excellence witnessed in European football and the quality of governance required to transform Nigeria.
He said the success of European football was not accidental, arguing that the infrastructure, security, institutions and accountability supporting the game were products of deliberate leadership and effective systems.
