A man has been charged with the murder of a young Irish woman in the Australian city of Melbourne.Local police said emergency services were called to a house on Ferntree Gully Road on Friday morning, where the woman was found badly injured.She was unable to be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.The woman was reportedly a mother of three.In a statement, police said that a man was arrested nearby by Homicide Squad detectives and taken into custody. He was later charged with murder.The 45-year-old, of Ferntree Gully, appeared before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court via videolink.He will reappear in court on 23 February 2027.It is understood that he and the 30-year-old woman knew each other.The Department of Foreign Affairs said it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
