This time, however, the focus is on the extraordinary human connections formed amid the chaos, as the courage shown by a number of lifesavers is recognised.Disney+ and National Geographic said: "Many of these emotional reunions take place for the first time in 25 years, providing a rare opportunity to ask long-held questions, express gratitude, and reflect on how those moments have stayed with them for decades."Across the episodes, survivors, first responders and witnesses reunite with the strangers, rescuers and everyday heroes who changed their lives.An emotional trailer has been released and it shows one male survivor explaining how "it has been 25 years and without both of them, I would have never made it out. I have always wanted to say thank you."Later in the trailer, he is seen hugging a gentleman, saying: "I want to tell you, if it wasn't for you, we wouldn't be here."Amid harrowing footage from the time of the event, a female survivor is heard saying through tears: "That day, someone risked their life to save my life."Because of him I had hopes, dreams, like it means everything."Another female expresses: "It's been 25 years and I never saw or heard of him again," before she is reunited with someone who saved her life, as she shares: "That bond will always be there between us and I want him to know that he changed my life."One survivor explains how the documentary is also a chance to show the "best of humanity" who chose to sacrifice themselves to save another human being.The 9/11 attacks also resulted in the deaths of firefighters, paramedics, NYPD officers and Port Authority police officers who put others before themselves.National Geographic said of the series: "On 11 September 2001, as the deadliest terrorist attacks in US history unfolded, strangers found each other in the most unimaginable circumstances."In the midst of fear and devastation, split-second acts of courage and compassion created bonds that would last a lifetime.
