Eurostar trains have been running between London St Pancras and mainland Europe since 2007 (and before that, from Waterloo to the continent since 1994). But there could be plenty of changes to those services in the next few years...
When is Eurostar getting double-decker trains?
Aside from new routes (details below), the biggest change coming to Eurostar in the next few years is the addition of double-decker trains.
It was announced in autumn 2025 that Eurostar had ordered 30 of the new trains, known as 'Celestia', with the potential for a further 20 to be added to its fleet at a later date. Each all-electric train is 200 metres long with 540 seats, which means that in its usual 400-metre formation, each Eurostar service will have around 1,080 seats — around a 20% increase on the capacity of current Eurostar services.
